The owner was undergoing the potential sale of the properties and ACS Engineering was called in to assess the current compliance and potential liabilities. Collection of the data necessary to determine which regulatory requirements were applicable and where liabilities existed was an onerous undertaking that required several weeks for that aspect alone. The initial data provided to ACS indicated the site was going to incur significant environmental penalties and horrendous control costs because major source applicability had been exceeded for several years without the proper authorization. With our expertise in dealing with the manufacturing industry, ACS was able to document that the initial records did not present the true nature of the environmental impact. ACS secured documentation from the state agency to prove that the site was and had been operating in compliance with all applicable requirements and we then successfully secured a permit to expand the site for anticipated growth.

Case Study > Oil and Gas Equipment Manufacturer

A manufacturing facility providing equipment to the oil and gas industry had been operating for several years with the oversight of a trusted environmental advisor. The company secured the services of ACS to implement our ACSxcel online compliance system to further enhance their compliance program and to help them stay abreast of all regulatory changes impacting their operations. In the course of implementing our patent pending regulatory compliance system for this site, ACS staff recognized that the existing permit limit for their coating operations was woefully inadequate for both the hourly and annual emission limits and that there was an anomaly between the represented coating usage and solvent usage. When this was brought to the attention of the site management they asked ACS to fix the problems. ACS secured a permit amendment that now allows the site to operate within their limits and to achieve their growth objectives. While amending the permit, ACS was also able to remove several requirements that were not justified for the site permit so the site now has reduced liability and operating costs.
